Get your tickets for South London’s business Oscar night

The closing date for entries to this year’s South London Business Awards has arrived and the firms who have been nominated will now wait to hear who will go forward as finalists.

A panel of judges will be shortlisting up to six finalists for each of the 11 categories and the winners will be announced at a glittering Oscar-style ceremony to be held on May 19 in a lavish marquee on the pitch at Selhurst Park, home to Crystal Palace Football Club.

If you know a business doing something outstanding then now is the time to enter it for one of the 2010 South London Business Awards.

Launched on Friday 18th November, the awards are sponsored by HSBC. Speaking at the launch at Delfina, near London Bridge, Carol Bagnald, HSBC’s regional commercial director for London, said pressures created by the recession would help shape some of the winners.

Awards' Winner tames the Dragons!

A West Norwood business is set for global success after a record-breaking appearance on hit TV show Dragon’s Den. True Call, based in Knight’s Hill, had one of the most successful pitches ever seen on the show, which sees entrepreneurs present their ideas to hugely successful businesspeople in return for investment.

It was aired on BBC 2 last night (Wednesday 15th July). Designers John Price and Steve Smith’s product - a gadget that filters nuisance phone calls - is now set for a worldwide launch next year, after it blew the competition away in the series curtainraiser.

The prestigious annual RBS South London Business Awards culminated last night with a gala dinner and Oscar-style awards ceremony in a lavish marquee on the pitch at Selhurst Park, home of Crystal Palace FC. Over 575 people attended the awards ceremony and enjoyed a three course meal and entertainment. 52 companies made it to the finals, and every one of London’s twelve south London boroughs was represented.

The award for Business of the Year went to Lambeth-based Z-Card, who also won the Best Business for Marketing Award. Liz Love, Managing Director said “This has been a real team effort. We’ve gone through some tough times and we have fought very hard and it’s just great to have this accolade”.

The RBS South London Business Awards 2009 are Launched

18th September 2008

The search is on for the best firms south of the Thames with the launch this week of the RBS South London Business Awards 2009.

The prestigious award scheme is masterminded by South London Business and sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland. Other sponsors include Ixion Holdings, Tentacle Design, and Thackray Williams LLP, with Newsquest South London as the media partner. The award launch ceremony takes place on Thursday 18th September at the Brit Oval.

A total of 12 different awards are up for grabs covering businesses of all sizes with customer service, innovation and training among the categories.
