The O2 in Greenwich has firmly established itself as London’s ultimate entertainment destination since AEG Europe redeveloped and now operates the former Millennium Dome. The O2’s centrepiece is the 20,000 capacity arena which has hosted some of the world’s biggest music and sports stars. Surrounding the arena within the 22-acre indoor site lies the Entertainment District, home of the 26 cafes, bars and restaurants, an 11 screen Vue cinema complex, indigO2, a smaller more intimate 2,350 capacity live music venue and The O2 bubble exhibition space. The O2 has seen over 16million visitors since June 2007 and has been voted the world’s most popular music venue by Pollstar for the last 3 years. It is an Olympic venue and will be host to the Basketball and Gymnastics.
AEG Europe is also responsible for Thames Clippers river services operating a fleet of hi-speed catamarans along the River Thames. The four main services are the scheduled commuter service from all major piers; the Tate to Tate Boat from Tate Modern to Tate Britain; The O2 Express – Waterloo to North Greenwich Pier; and the Hilton Docklands ferry service. Thames Clippers hosted over 3 million visitors in 2009.
